Connect your AI app

Every app follows the same flow:

  1. Add a custom MCP server (or "connector") with the URL https://mcp.fonema.ai/mcp.
  2. The app opens a Fonema sign-in window. Log in with your dashboard account.
  3. Review the Authorize access screen and click Authorize.
  4. You are sent back to the app, and the Fonema tools are ready to use.

Menu names in third-party apps change often. If a step below does not match what you see, look for "Connectors", "MCP servers" or "Integrations" in the app's settings.

Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)

  1. Open Settings → Connectors.
  2. Click Add custom connector.
  3. Enter a name, for example Fonema, and the URL https://mcp.fonema.ai/mcp.
  4. Click Add, then Connect, and complete the Fonema sign-in.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an organization owner may need to add the connector first.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings → Apps & Connectors.
  2. Under Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode (required for custom connectors that can make changes, like startCall, createAgent and updateAgent).
  3. Click Create, enter Fonema as the name and https://mcp.fonema.ai/mcp as the URL, and choose OAuth as the authentication.
  4. Click Create and complete the Fonema sign-in.

Claude Code

Run:

claude mcp add --transport http fonema https://mcp.fonema.ai/mcp

Then open Claude Code, run /mcp, select fonema and choose Authenticate.

Cursor

Add Fonema to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project):

{
"mcpServers": {
"fonema": {
"url": "https://mcp.fonema.ai/mcp"
}
}
}

Cursor shows a Needs login button next to the server. Click it and complete the Fonema sign-in.

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

Add Fonema to .vscode/mcp.json:

{
"servers": {
"fonema": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.fonema.ai/mcp"
}
}
}

Click Start above the server entry and complete the Fonema sign-in.

Other MCP clients

Any client that supports Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.1 can connect. Point it at https://mcp.fonema.ai/mcp; it discovers the authorization server automatically. The server is stateless and only accepts POST requests.

The authorization screen

After you sign in, Fonema shows the app that is asking for access, the company it will access and the account you are signed in with. Check them and click Authorize, or Deny to cancel.

  • If you are not logged in, you are taken to the login page first and brought back afterwards.
  • If your company requires two-factor authentication and you have not set it up yet, you are asked to set it up before continuing.
  • The request expires after 10 minutes. If you see This request has expired, go back to the app and start the connection again.

Manage connected apps

To see or remove the apps connected to your account:

  1. Open Configuration → Connected apps in the dashboard.

  2. Each row shows the app, the company, when it was connected and when it was last used.

  3. Click Revoke to disconnect an app. It loses access immediately and must be authorized again to reconnect.

Connecting the same app again replaces its previous connection, so each app appears only once.

Staying connected

The app refreshes its access automatically in the background. You only need to sign in again if:

  • You revoke the app in Connected apps.
  • The app is not used for 30 days.
  • Your user is removed or moved to another company.
